Sapient Atoms Ledger
A private bookkeeping system for one household. It is not a public service: there is no sign-up, and only the people in that household use it.
What it does
Sapient Atoms Ledger is a double-entry general ledger, the same kind of accounting system a business keeps, run for a single household. It keeps the household's books:
- bank, card, loan and investment activity, brought in from bank connections and monthly statements;
- reconciliation of every account to the bank's own balances;
- bills, due dates, spending targets and a cash forecast;
- the records the household needs for its tax return.
AI assistants help with the bookkeeping on the owner's behalf. Every change they make is recorded with who made it and why, and the owner can review and undo it.
Who runs it
One person runs it for their own household, under the domain sapientatoms.com. It is a personal project, not a company or a commercial product. The owner is the only administrator, and another member of the household may be given access later. No one else has an account, and none are offered.
Why it asks for access to Google
Only people in the household can sign in with Google (today, only the owner). Every other connection is to the owner's own Google account. Each connection has one purpose:
Sign in with Google
Lets people in the household sign in to the ledger with a Google account. The ledger receives the name, email address, profile picture and Google account ID.
Google Drive: encrypted backups
Each night the ledger saves an encrypted copy of its database to the owner's Drive as a new, dated file. It can see only the files it creates and how full the Drive is, never any other file in Drive.
Google Calendar: a Finance calendar
The ledger keeps one calendar it creates, named Finance, with bill due dates, statement closing dates, promotion deadlines, tax dates and similar reminders. It cannot see the owner's other calendars.
Google Tasks: a Ledger task list
The ledger keeps a task list named Ledger with jobs only the owner can do, such as uploading a statement or reconnecting a bank, and closes each task when it sees the work done. It works only with that list.
Gmail add-on
When the owner opens an email, such as a receipt or a bill, and opens the add-on, it shows the matching ledger transactions and, on the owner's click, links the email to one. It reads only the message the owner has open, and only while the owner is using it.
The ledger never sells Google data, never uses it for advertising, and never uses it to train AI models. The privacy policy explains exactly what it accesses, stores and shares.
Status
The ledger is being built. As of October 2026 none of the Google features above is running yet. Each one is described as it is planned, and this page and the privacy policy will be updated before any of them works differently from what they say.
